The US International Trade Commission has approved anti-dumping and countervailing investigations on carbon and certain alloy steel wire rods from China.

The trade panel voted yes that a US industry was materially injured by imports of these products. The Department of Commerce will continue the investigations, with a preliminary countervailing duty determination expected in April, and the anti-dumping duty determination in July.

Imports of these products from China were estimated at 313 million US dollars last year.
